Out Of The ICU

Joey is doing great! He was able to move out of the ICU this evening and onto the fourth floor, which means he can have visitors now. Yeah!! In addition, he was able to get all of his IVs out, and some of his tubes, including the oxygen tube. He still has tubes in place for his arm and his amputated leg. On Tuesday, doctors will reposition the tubes coming out of Joey's neck, and station them near his chest. This will be much more comfortable for Joey.

Joey had four hours of dialysis today. He won't have to have dialysis again until Monday. Joey is improving more and more everyday. He has a physical therapist come in every day and help Joey get up and do exercises and help improve balance. He is doing great and getting stronger and stronger everyday.

We love you Joey! Keep up the good work! We are so proud of you!

  1. Joey--

We love you! You are an amazing person, and we are so proud of you! Aspen told me that her most favorite part about today was getting to see uncle Joey, and telling him that she loves him. She was THRILLED when I told her you had moved to a different floor and she could come see you. This was her most favorite part about today, even better than going fast down the hill at Skier's Lane, and riding the chair lift.

This was also me and Jared's most favorite part about today. Getting to come see you everyday for the last two weeks, and being able to witness the love and support of so many people both family and friends all coming together in hope and prayer, and watching you fight this great battle, has been something I will never forget, not in my lifetime. What a roller coaster of emotions it has been!

The best part is seeing you come through this whole thing, getting to see you awake, getting to see your smile, give you a hug, and just talk. All these little things we take for granted seem like such BIG things now! How grateful we are for these little things that mean so much now! How precious life is. It can be taken in a moment--and how very precious you are to us. I hope you know that.

We are so grateful for this time we get to spend with you and look forward to all the tomorrows we get to spend with you.

We love you lots & lots! You are a fighter! You are strong! Your trials and struggles will make you stronger. You are stronger than you know! We love you!!! Hang in there! XOXOXO

    Love,
    Jared, Becca, Aspen & Chaz
